Christine & Colin

Hello, we are Christine and Colin. We are honored to be considered as adoptive parents for your child. We are both excited to become parents and promise to love our child with all of our hearts. We both come from loving families that live close by. We both want our child to grow up feeling loved, safe, and free to grow up to be their own unique person. We would be honored to provide that for your child.

About Christine & Colin

We met six years ago on a blind date, set up by Colin's sister-in-law and Christine's friend. Two weeks later we were celebrating New Year's Eve together and planning a trip to New Orleans. Christine grew up in Moorpark with a younger brother. She has always loved working with people and is a social worker. Colin grew up in Pomona as the oldest of three brothers. He works as a paralegal.

Christine's smile is the first thing Colin noticed about her. She is tremendously kind and this can be seen by the gifts she brings to family and friends when we visit them. Her sense of humor is one of my favorite things about her, always a quick wit and makes me laugh every day. Christine loves to read. She always has a book from our library to keep her interest unless there are chores around the house that are keeping her busy. Christine is the cook of our home and she loves preparing healthy meals for us to share. But she also shares Colin's love for breakfast and brunch so she enjoys going to favorite restaurants and trying new ones on the weekends. Our niece and nephew love to play with Christine and she frequently brings fun crafty projects for them, like painting pumpkins. Christine also loves our dog Ruby and keeps Ruby's toy and treat supply stocked for daily playing sessions!

Colin quickly becomes everyone’s favorite when they get to know him. Colin is the first to volunteer to help remodel your bathroom or fix anything broken. He comes prepared with all his tools and loves to work on new projects together. Colin's positivity is contagious and he loves to start the weekend off with a bike ride and brunch, a favorite is huevos rancheros. Colin is an amazing listener and will always want to hear about Christine's day. Colin enjoys coming home from work and being outside to play with Ruby, clean the pool, and make sure the yard looks great. Colin is generous with his time and loves to be around his family and friends. Our niece and nephew love to rough house with Uncle Colin and play games and Legos together. Ruby gets very excited for Colin to come home and knows it is play time!

Career/Occupation:

Christine is a social worker that works with foster children and families. Christine has a home office and flexible work schedule to be able to take off time to bond with a child. Colin is a paralegal and works in a law office. Christine’s mom is looking forward to being a full-time grandma while Christine and Colin are at work. She is ready to take walks to the park and go to the library, and Christine will be able to pop out of her home office for lunch to be able to spend special time together. Weekends will be filled with family adventures and lots of swimming in the summertime. We live close to the beach, three different zoos, and so many parks to explore as a family.

Home/Community:

Our home is located in a cul -de-sac in a quiet neighborhood in Thousand Oaks. We have great neighbors who look out for each other, one neighbor shares vegetables from their garden which is always a fun treat. Ruby loves walking in the neighborhood and there are many parks within walking distance. We have big backyard with a pool, a big vegetable garden, and some fruit trees. Summertime is our favorite, to BBQ dinner and have a late swim outside. On the 4th of July we can see the city's fireworks show from our backyard, which fireworks are Christine' favorite! We are less than 30 minutes from Malibu and enjoy going to the beach to walk around and have a picnic.

Interests & Hobbies:

We both now have bikes and love exploring new bike trails. We both love hiking and being out in nature. Colin has big record collection and loves all music. We love going to see live music with our favorites being John Legend and would love to see Stevie Windwood (our first dance song was Higher Love). We love going to comedy shows, especially improv shows in Hollywood. Weekends are filled with family gatherings and spending time together. We love hosting BBQs with everyone swimming and having a great time. Trying new brunch places on the weekends is always on our list.

Personal Values:

We both look forward to growing our family in a way that reflects our values of being grateful for all of our blessings. This looks like spending time with our families and having fun together. Traveling to new places feels like an adventure, one we look forward to sharing with our child. We enjoy road trips, with the silliness of random stops and singing along with the radio. A love of learning is a value we want to pass along, this includes being curious and creative through play, exploring, and reading.

Openness:

We promise as parents to honor our child's adoption story and that is why open adoption is feels right in our hearts. One way we plan on doing this is by learning about your family traditions that you wish to pass along, that we can then incorporate into our lives.

Parenting:

We believe in creating an environment that is safe and filled with unconditional love. Children are sponges and learn from their surroundings, which is why modeling kindness is where we will start with parenting. We envision eating dinner as a family every night, talking about our days, and creating special family time to connect. We want to create a home environment in which we are a team, tending to our garden, then cooking meals together, and cleaning up together. We want our home to be filled with laughter and fun, being playful, dancing to music and singing loudly. Weekends will be filled with family adventures, going to parks, bike rides, the beach, and visiting family and friends. We promise as parents to honor our child's adoption story and that is why open adoption is feels right in our hearts. One way we plan on doing this is by learning about your family traditions that you wish to pass along, that we can then incorporate into our lives.

In Closing:

We are grateful for all the blessings in our lives, from our families to our home and know in our hearts we are meant to be parents. Our promise is that your child will be loved unconditionally and immersed in our lives in such a magical way. Our intentions as parents are to provide a safe home that is filled with love, laughter, and all the opportunities to express themselves fully. Adoption is a life-long journey and we look forward to building a relationship full of respect and love with you that will continue to grow as we walk this journey together. We can't wait to meet you and answer any questions you may have.
We are honored that you are considering us to be parents to your child. We believe that adoption is a brave choice made out of love. We promise to love, support, and guide your child to reach their full potential. We will forever be connected through this journey and we promise to keep you updated on their life. We will always be grateful to you for giving us the opportunity to be parents.
